Another KMC councillor, Biswajit Mondal arrested, after woman alleges molestation and threats
Delhi and Assam Police conducted a joint operation at the residence of senior Congress leader Pawan Khera. The raid follows the registration of a formal case against Khera involving allegations directed at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma. While the police arrived with search warrants, reports indicate that Khera was not present at his home during the time of the operation.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Congress leader "ran away from Guwahati yesterday". "I have come to know through the media that the police have gone to his residence in Delhi, but he has run away to Hyderabad. The law will take its own course," he added.
The controversy stems from recent statements made by Khera, which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claims are based on "forged documents." The row has intensified into a high-stakes political battle, with the Assam Police actively seeking evidence related to the allegations. During the search, security personnel reportedly scanned the premises for documents and digital footprints that could substantiate the charges filed in Assam.
